Places to Visit When in Monterey, CA

We recently went on a wonderful mini trip to Monterey, CA. As we live for the beach, we often find ourselves with our beach bag in tow, headed to enjoy life's splendor at many of our majestic Northern California Beaches. The biggest difference between beaches in Northern California and Southern California is that our surf is incredibly dangerous. I am often holding my breath as many tourists let their small children play by the shoreline unsupervised. Albeit beautiful, our rip currents, undertow, and sheer force of the ocean are something to respect, and from afar. Our water is also cold....

Five Tips for Success Sewing the Dolcezza Bolero

Dolcezza has arrived!! I am so excited that this pattern is out into the world! I had made plans for a July release, and of course with the year we have had and the fit issues Dolcezza gave me, July quickly turned into December! I would like to acknowledge and thank Deepika from Pattern Review for giving me a gentle nudge to followthrough and finish this pattern! Dolcezza has two views. Reclaiming My Time

Part One of my Four Part Series: How to Find Balance in a Chaotic World Recently, I have been reflecting on reclaiming my time. Creating systems is something that is necessary in my life. The truth is, there are great alternatives that really can help the planet and also help you help the planet....

Setting Yourself Up for Success in 2021

Setting Yourself Up for Success in 2021

This year, I decided to start my new year's resolutions early. With all my new hobbies I wanted to smash those hypothetical goals by doing some extra planning and give my future self a head start! Some of you may not know, but I am a multi-venture entrepreneur. I own a successful bookkeeping business, I am a singer-songwriter and pre-covid I had 20-30 shows a year. And of course, I am a single parent. I decided that I fell short in 2020, and pretty much for all of the 2000's, but 2021 will be different. I have spent enough time...

What Do UFO’s Mean to You?

What Do UFO’s Mean to You?

UFO’s or unfinished house objects seem to carry a bad rep in the sewing community. As I reflect on the many UFO's I have laying around my home from the past decade plus, I wanted to touch on what they mean to me. For me, leaving something in a UFO status is a moment of respite from something that I deem challenging or intimidating. Although it may seem advantageous to just push through, this often has the reverse effect for me and kills any creative motivation to finish. Something about serious struggling with a technique when I am not in...
